I made a little survey yesterday and found out that many people think that there is indeed no lack in the childrens music, the problem is actually on the kids and the parents itself. Any suggestions on how to make them listen to their own music, given the fact that these days kids tend to listen to the latest pop hits rather than kids music?

p.s. what I mean by ‘kids’ here is the ones between the age of 2 to 6 or seven I guess (pre-teenager). I just feel that many young kids nowadays rather listen to rap music with all the destructive lyrics (well, not all, of course) instead of listening to kids music with educational lyrics.

Parenting! I agree it is Parenting! My children listen to music with me. So I do not listen to any of the "bad" stuff. I also make time to listen to kid music with them. If a parent puts down kid music and won’t listen to "good" music then the child will follow the example set for them. Just as a child who hears from his parents that vegetables are yucky, so the child will think also. If you want your child to like something then like it yourself. Children learn by example, especially at the age you are talking about. Young children look up to their parents.

Im looking for a music making software (hip hop preferred) thats not expensive and is compatible with a laptop.Some of the softwares (reason & fruity loops) are expensive and they need too much space so hence cant be used on a laptop.This software must have record facility as well.Cheers!!

For Mac you can use GarageBand which is the best in its class.

For Windows you can use Audacity or Goldwave – both FREE.

Acoustica really works but my free trial is up. I need something that lets me put different clips of songs together and burn it as one song. and it has to be free.. any ideas?

I’d recommend Audacity from http://audacity.sourceforge.net/. It works on Windows and Mac. You can import songs and make your own mashup. There are also sites online for doing your own mashups like http://www.splicemusic.com/.
