You need to …
You need to understand the physics of sound.. and trigonometry comes into play when positioning mics for different sounds.
You need to know what having the mic close to the guitar makes the sound do.. it’s all math and physics.

It was a bad …
It was a bad example. Should of known you wouldn’t get it. My poin’t was that I’m a freak of nature, by known standards, and ultimately I ended up with an offset of about 10 years between my mind and my acctual age. I was a horney and was bustin my own nuts at age 3. Mentally I was an adult at roughly the age of 10 now I’m 28, tired and too, “young,” for retirement. My ultimate point was that I’ve already learned 95% of it but everyone wants a degree. It’s all up like you.

WTF does your dumb going through puberty at age 3 have to do with what the last guy said? Finding your moms hair on your nutsack cuz she was sucking your dick doesn’t count as a pube dude. Go be an hole to your mom. She is the one that you up.

I hate to be an, ” …
I hate to be an, “ass,” but I understand completely what you are telling me. I guess I also understand that I am well ahead of, “physics 101.” The, “sound wave,” aspect of my, “pyisics question,” is just irelivant to me at this point! I see sound waves visually. I went through puberty at age 3, litterlly! I apriciate your time and influance, truelly! I guess my question requires more substance here. How can I get around the remedial requirements, at something I love, at top pay?

Sure. The reason …
Sure. The reason you need to know physics is sound is phsysics. As an audio engineers you need to know how to manipulate sound waves. there is a lot to know. Live sound requires a lot more physics too. in order to align multiple speakers and provide uniform coverage to the whole venue.
feel free to google anything on sound waves if you would like to know more.

The vocals is just …
The vocals is just one of many tracks recorded and rerecorded. They also record the guitars, drums, bass, keys, and anything else seperatly. Everything is recorded solely on seperate, “tracks.” Then the editors come into play. They take everything and cut and mix what sounds best together and frankenstien the finished product together then it goes to mastering. This is why some great bands sound like when they play live. Every studio and editor can make a different product and sound.

Can I ask why at my local university the Audio Engineering course requires classes in physics and trigonometry? I think the engineering part of the title is just a little to general and unnecessary, do you know what I mean?

My advise would be …
My advise would be to choose a different career path, I’ve tried everything for the last decade to break into this business and I can tell you that its reserved for the extreamly ‘lucky’ few, it will only make you depressed, as will trying to ever afford pro audio gear for a decent home studio.

No, it’s absolutely correct….
EQ causes phase shifting… Especially in midrange frequencies in the heart of your sound…

Do different …
Do different recording studios do it very much different from others? For example I have seen where they get the lead singer to sing the same song a bunch of times and then they keep the parts that sounded the best. But in addition to that do the also do a lot of voice editing? Or not?

Having musical …
Having musical experience does help quite a lot. It’s not a necessity but it helps. About 1/3 of the guys in my class played instruments.
Doing a course can be expensive. Depends on what avenue you want to get into when you’ve finished s well – 1 year of studying for the basic recording of artists as opposed to 3 years (Masters Degree) performing acoustic treatment on large buildings.

In analog consoles, …
In analog consoles, it is completely true. In digital, it is present but not to a point where it matters. Any turn of an EQ knob changes the phase. Say you’re lazy and you don’t want to adjust the mic placement and you start cranking EQ knobs, you’re going to have a phase shift.

Mic placement is key. Only use the EQ if you absolutely have to. Messing with the EQ can bring about phase problems.
